My husband picked this out and we love how it has different textures
by Skyla Holliday
Purchased for my 5 month old grandson, and it quickly became his favorite Christmas toy. The soft barn and easy to hold animals were perfect for him to play with. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the way it was package, the barn was smashed down and is misshapen, and we haven’t been able to get it back to a barn shape. Not a big deal overall, but it could be better

Received this item that was marketed for infants and toddlers. Why is the box labeled 3+? It looks safe, but is it?

Review of Baby Toys for 0-6 and 6-12 Months
Finding the right toys for infants can be a delightful but overwhelming experience for new parents. The first year of a baby’s life is crucial for their development, and selecting appropriate toys plays a pivotal role in stimulating their sensory, cognitive, and motor skills. Here’s a comprehensive look at the best types of toys for babies aged 0-6 months and 6-12 months.
Toys for 0-6 Months
At this early stage, babies are primarily engaged in exploring their world through their senses. Toys that stimulate sight, sound, and touch are essential. Here are some standout options:
Soft Rattles: Rattles that are lightweight and easy to grasp are perfect for tiny hands. Look for colorful designs with varying textures and sounds that encourage auditory and tactile exploration.
Crib Mobiles: A mobile with contrasting colors and playful shapes can captivate a baby’s attention. It encourages visual tracking as they watch the moving objects, while also providing soothing music or gentle sounds.
Teething Toys: As infants start to teeth around six months, soft and safe teething toys can provide relief. Look for ones made from BPA-free silicone or rubber that are easy to clean and grip.
Sensory Play Mats: These mats often come with bright colors, crinkly textures, and attached toys. They encourage tummy time and provide a safe space for babies to explore while stimulating their senses.
Toys for 6-12 Months
As babies grow, so do their abilities and interests. At this stage, toys that promote fine motor skills, problem-solving, and social interaction become crucial:
Stacking and Nesting Toys: Simple stacking rings or nesting cups help babies understand size, shape, and balance. These toys also enhance hand-eye coordination as they practice grasping and placing items.
Activity Balls: Soft, textured balls that are easy to grip and roll can encourage crawling and movement. Many activity balls also include sounds or lights that engage babies and stimulate their curiosity.
Shape Sorters: These toys introduce problem-solving as babies learn to fit shapes into the correct holes. They develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination while having fun.
Musical Instruments: Simple instruments like maracas, tambourines, or xylophones are fantastic for introducing rhythm and sound. They encourage auditory play and can be engaging for both the baby and caregivers.
Interactive Books: Sturdy board books with flaps to lift, textures to feel, and bright images can promote early literacy skills. Reading to babies establishes a bond and encourages language development.
Conclusion
Choosing toys for infants requires careful consideration of safety, age-appropriateness, and developmental benefits. The best toys stimulate the senses and promote exploration while ensuring safety and durability. For babies aged 0-6 months, focus on toys that offer sensory experiences. For those aged 6-12 months, look for toys that encourage interaction, mobility, and cognitive skills. With the right selection, these toys will not only entertain but also contribute significantly to a baby’s growth and development in those critical early months. As always, supervision during playtime is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience!

My great granddaughter loves the fan and animals. A bit disappointed. It did not have a cow but that’s okay.

This barn and farm animals are a great toy for any little one. Both my littles (under 3) have enjoyed playing with this toy. The various farm animals are intriguing, especially since they make different noises. The animals have held up well to some aggressive play from my toddler and I haven’t worried about my youngest biting anything apart. The barn is also well made with good stitching throughout. My youngest hasn’t figured out how to put the animals inside the barn, as she mostly chews on the toy, but my toddler enjoys opening and closing the barn door. Only negative is that the packaging it arrives in squishes the entire barn down, so not the best if you’re giving it as a gift, although the barn does easily reshape. At $25 the price is on par with other similar toys.

I liked the design of the barn and animals but the smell is awful. I’ll let it air out and see if it gets any better.

Christmas present, I like it.
