I was expecting a much larger bezel. It is too small for me. The watch was nice. Looked good but not what expected.

Very dim display, small information areas. Hard to read in sunlight, definitely NOT a pilot’s watch.
Maddeningly slow return process, taking over a month to get money refunded!!!

Band falling apart after a year. I’m not using it in water or anything crazy. pretty embarrassing

The display on the Gen 1 is the traditional Garmin display that I like. Always on, great in direct sunlight, doesn’t create a distracting light show in a dim or dark room. The Gen 2 are OLED.

I’m a fairly serious runner and so despite the very high cost, I sprang for the Marq.
From a functionality perspective (I upgraded from a Fenix 5), I love the new OS. The widgets are great and I am also finding that the new GPS chipset is significantly better than the Fenix especially when I run in Manhattan near tall buildings. Finally, I find the race predictor to be far more accurate than the fenix 5.
While most of the things in the above paragraph might also hold true for the Fenix 6 or Forerunner 945, I also really like the titanium case, weight and size of the Marq enough to justify the extra cost. It feels less bulky than the fenix and the materials feel (and look) like they are higher quality.

Garmin makes the best multifunctional time pieces ever. Durable and accurate. A great buy!

This review is for the Garmin Marq Captain 1. (Not Captain 2, which is awesome) The screen is awful. I have a 10-year old Fossil smartwatch with a better screen. Do not buy. You will be disappointed. Save up/splurge for the Captian gen 2.
