We wanted a video doorbell with high resolution and local storage without a subscription. We originally bought one Aosu Deluxe 2.4/5.0 GHz doorbell, and then eventually bought two more, so now we have high-quality video doorbells for our front door, back door, and back gate.
The camera resolution on these doorbells is very good, and the “human only” detection algorithms work–they don’t seem to miss anyone, and they completely eliminate false alarms. (Every video clip shows at least one person in our detection zone.) And the notifications are customizable in the app, so you can choose what types of notifications you want to get on your phone, and when. The app is also very easy to use with multiple doorbells, including the option to display a multi-camera feed.
Aosu customer service is also great. I had a potential issue with the battery levels in one of the doorbells. It took a long time to charge, and it also wasn’t charging back up to 100 percent at night. Aosu provided a lot of timely technical support to try to troubleshoot, and then eventually sent me a replacement doorbell. The replacement unit works perfectly, and it fully charges up at night when there are few or no detection events. So this is a quality product, and Aosu stands behind it as well.
One possible negative of these Aosu doorbells is that they are apparently slightly larger (taller) than most other video doorbells, so most of the anti-theft/weatherproof cases don’t fit around this guy. I tried two that should have fit but didn’t, and ended up using aluminum angle iron and PVC corner trim to rig up custom covers to block the overhead sun and rain, and to deter tampering/theft. Based on the overall quality of these units, I’m guessing the waterproofing and operating temperature ranges are fine, but I still wanted to block as much sun and rain as possible (partly to get better video). But I wish Aosu made or recommended a quality weatherproof case that was tall enough for this doorbell. Honestly, there probably is one, but I tried twice and didn’t find one, so that was my biggest issue with installing the Aosu Deluxe doorbell.
We’ve had these video doorbells for a few months now, and we are very pleased we bought them. They’re very capable, especially for the price, and they give really good awareness and understanding of who comes and goes around our house on a typical day. As long as the app stays supported, these are truly a 5-star item, and a deal at twice the price. In short, they’re smart little security doorbells with great day/night video quality, at a great price.
A few installation notes:
Doorbell power is rather unique. If you are putting this somewhere where you don’t have functional doorbell power, you need a 16-24V AC (not DC) 500mA minimum power source. Search for doorbell and/or thermostat power supplies, and you’ll find something that works using a standard outlet. I also bought some two-conductor 18 gauge copper (not copper coated aluminum) wire, and the setup is working flawlessly. Depending on how you’re running your wires, you may also want to get some conduit and/or waterproof/flashing tape and/or cable trays.
The outside of the Aosu box has stickers that include the SNs for both the doorbell and the home station. Note that there is a separate SN for each, but that the SNs are paired (which matters if you buy more than one doorbell). The SNs are also included on the components themselves, but having the box sticker gives you info on which home station is paired to which doorbell, and this is useful if you have multiple doorbells. So if you buy more then one doorbell, you may want to take a picture of the stickers on the boxes before you throw the boxes out.
Lastly, these doorbells have 5 GHz connectivity, which apparently requires a much more sophisticated and better equipped bad guy to potentially mess with your video door bell (vs 2.4 GHz). This is probably not an issue for most people, but it’s a nice feature that you get free. So choose your 5 GHz (not 2.4 GHz) network to connect these to.

This is now my second doorbell. I had bought one to test out for the back door and it worked really well so bought another one for the front door. The back doorbell is on battery power while the front one is wired into the old house doorbell.
Size: It is a lot bigger than your regular doorbell or even the Ring doorbells. If you’re looking for something small, slim profile, etc. then this is not the doorbell for you.
Battery powered doorbell: Worked surprisingly well considering it was exposed to the elements. It took a couple of months before I had to charge it up again. I live in Alberta, Canada and it weathered well in the March temperatures (dipping down to about -20C. Captured video just fine and clear but there is a lag between you receiving it vs where the person is located.
Wire powered doorbell: Installation was fairly easy and integrated with the chimer in the house really easily. The location of the doorbell is on a 90 degree angle so used the plates that were provided to tilt it so it would point more towards the walkway vs just the front door. Again, captured video fine but there is a lag.
App: The app worked well but I had to get assistance from customer service to get it linked to the Google Assistant but it wasn’t difficult to use. Only wish that the voice chosen could be on a more permanent scale instead of having to remember to pick the voice change before answering the person as currently, it’s defaulted to using your own voice when you open the app to answer and not one of the other voices you choose. If you’re female and want to use the male voice when answering for safety purposes, you have to remember switch the voice before answering or it will be your own voice that comes through first.
Customer Service: AMAZING! I had used all the tilt/angle plates that came with the doorbell but it still wasn’t enough (the doorbell is on the side of the house so 90 degrees from the walkway) so I reached out to customer service with a picture of what the doorbell see vs what it should see. They not only responded quickly, they sent me 2 additional plates at no cost and it arrived within a few days. Every time I have reached out to them, they have been very responsive which shows they stand behind the product.
Overall impression: Very good doorbell to upgrade to if you want a camera one but don’t want to spend the high cost dollars for it. The doorbell is a lot bigger than others but does what it’s supposed to do. The cost is decent for what you get but the best part is the customer service. I would give it a 6 star out of 5 for the customer service alone. Would I buy it again? Well… I already bought 2 but I would definitely recommend if people were asking.

Excellent video doorbell available at an affordable price. I recently reviewed this product in the United Kingdom on November 19, 2023. The setup process was quick and straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions provided. The picture and video quality are superb, and the accompanying app is user-friendly, reliable, and intuitive.
While some users have mentioned the absence of an option to add an extra chime at the moment, it would be beneficial if the ability to connect two doorbells to a single wifi home base were available. I encountered a minor issue with audio sound initially and reached out to customer service. Ann provided outstanding assistance, responding promptly and suggesting a few tests. She recommended capturing a short video to aid the technical service department in resolving the issue. This practical advice proved valuable, and I received a brand new replacement just two days later. I am a very satisfied customer, and I must say that this is the best customer service experience I’ve ever had with any company, earning them a well-deserved 5-star rating. Ann’s support was exceptional.
Although I can’t speak to the battery life yet, there is no indication that it shouldn’t last several weeks (or even months) based on a full charge and a reasonable number of daily events captured.
In summary, this is a high-quality product that delivers on its promises and provides excellent value for money compared to pricier alternatives in the market. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Thankyou Aosu I will be a returning customer 😊

Update:
We’ve upgraded our rating to 5 stars and bought a second doorbell of this model for our other door. We like this doorbell that much. We’ve also added Aosu 4 solar security cameras with the separate (not attached to the camera) solar panels, so we’re now all in with Aosu. Thank you Amazon for all of the Aosu deals. We saved a bundle.
Why the upgraded rating for the doorbell? After fumbling around, we found all of the features in the app that we need to monitor the doors to our house. Video playback is still herky jerky, but we’ll live with this trade-off for exceptionally crystal clear video. This doorbell model works very well.
We’re staying with the wireless option because our ‘vintage’ house requires more wiring than we care to invest in doorbells. The wireless works well with our mesh router and signal extenders with zero dropouts.
We solved the battery drain in several ways. Turn off the blue doorbell light, it sucks power. Don’t monitor the area 24/7, that sucks power, too. Doing these two things keeps the doorbells charged to 90-100% for months.
HOWEVER, many thanks to Aosu for not hiding the doorbell USB port inside the mounting plates. Access to the USB port when the doorbell is locked in place allows for continuous charging with solar panels and solves the entire battery drain problem permanently.
We attached 5W solar panels (available on Amazon) to the doorbells and added long USB male to female cables (also Amazon) to snake around the door frames and up to the solar panels on the roof. The solar panels now keep our doorbells fully charged. This option is something that Aosu could offer for anyone opting for the wireless doorbell version.
It means that we can turn back on the doorbell’s blue light and monitor 24/7 if we want. But we’re already ‘trained’ in the above ways to conserve the battery, so not going OCD here…lol.
We’re not fans of the Ring community sharing (private people) and are glad not to be on that particular ‘social media’. We’re also not cloud fans (hello Crowd Strike?) and totally appreciate local storage, which we manage daily by deleting all videos. Seriously, we don’t need to save videos of the mail carrier or package deliveries and clog up the doorbell’s storage… :-).
Initial Review:
First off, thank you to all the reviewers. After futzing around for a year trying to figure out which video doorbell to buy, you guys helped with this decision.
No regrets here. Wireless installation was a breeze and works well with our Samsung tablets. The images are crystal clear. We’ll most likely hardwire for full-time observation because doing so drains the battery too quickly. Another possibility is a USB solar panel connected to the bottom USB charging port to keep the doorbell fully charged once we figure out the correct solar panel wattage.
With the porch light turned on, we turned off the infrared for full color night vision and it’s amazing even with our low wattage LED porch light. No porch light? Then you’ll need to enable infrared, which also works as it should.
Suggested Improvements: The Aosu app interface is kludgy and could be improved. An interface with a drop down set of menus, think any Microsoft Office application, would go a long way to making these products more consumer friendly along with easier to configure and maintain the cameras or some pop-up words to tell the user what an icon does. Because we just ordered the Aosu 4 cam solar security camera set on deal from Amazon, we’re kind of dreading its maintenance with the current app interface.
We’re maintenance minded and like to be able to do things like check the battery life (not on the home card as specified in settings), delete old files (not able to do this with the incorrect directions in the online manual, but finally figured it out with an ‘Activities’ icon), check the WiFi signal strength easily (have to futz around in settings to find it and its buried in ‘About Device’) and delete notifications/messages (we don’t need to see forever worth of messages and prefer to keep this list shorter or empty on a daily basis).
We have a call into customer support because we’d like to be able to define where the Aosu app stores event files. We don’t need to fill up our internal tablet storage when we have gigantic SD cards in our tablets just for storing data.
Wish list? An app for our desktops – Linux and Windows. Given that the doorbell’s hub is already on our network, then a desktop app would be an unbelievable bonus putting Aosu way ahead of everyone else. Because this isn’t an NVR, Blue Iris doesn’t support these cameras…yet…but we’re trying.
By tapping our Samsung tablets to the side of our 55″ Samsung TV monitors we have the tablet’s interface on the big screen. The problem is that it’s not a KVM switch, which puts us back to the desktop app wish. Yah, we know, there are Android emulators for the desktops, but they’re still not ‘there’.
All in all, as noted above, we like this doorbell so much that we’ll be all in with Aosu security once our security cameras arrive. The single star ding is for the above suggestions for the consumer’s experience and not for the hardware which works well.

I’m really impressed with this camera doorbell! The installation was a breeze—super easy to set up. The storage card is housed inside the chime, which stays safely inside the house, adding an extra layer of security. I can’t speak to the battery life since I connected it directly to the power cable of my existing doorbell, but it’s been working perfectly.
The setup took a little time on the first day to adjust the sensor sensitivity, but once that was done, it’s been flawless ever since—no false alerts at all. The day and night vision are both excellent, providing clear footage around the clock. The voice quality is also top-notch, and my young son loves using the “uncle mode” for fun. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase!
