I bought 12 of the 8″ lights for my 16′ x 24′ workshop. They give off the perfect amount of light. Nice and bright over the entire workshop. The aspect I like the most is the fact they fit over ceiling joists easily as long as your ceiling has at least 1/2″ drywall. In fact, I have a ceiling joist dead center in the hole of each light where I fastened the junction box which is included with the lights. They have 5 different settings for the color of light and they are dimmable. They’re easy to install and easy to remove with the 2 springs that hold them in place. I only installed them 1 week ago, so I can’t speak to the longevity of the light.

I have installed a number of these lights and it is very easy to work with them. I would recommend cutting the off the quick connectors and just using standard wire twists for reliability and safety. Also don’t forget to use metal box clamps when running wires into the boxes. The lights works exactly as described. They are the thickness of 1/2 drywall and can fit underneath floor joists and ceiling beams. That means you can pretty much install them anywhere you want without having to worry about the location of overhead timbers. The other really nice feature is the selector switch. Some of these lights are fixed and if you get one that is too bright you are stuck. These lights make it very easy to select different intensities which also affects the color tone of the light. The connector (junction + DC converter) boxes are metal and can be placed in insulation based on the instructions. The pigtail connectors are standard low voltage connectors and make it easy to connect or remove the LED light portion. The only compliant I have is the little metal box lid is not as sturdy as I would like to see. The hinge just snaps shut with no screw. I would like to see an optional screw to keep that lid shut as a preventive measure. Also you might have 1 out of a box of 12 that contains a defective pigtail adapter. But they are so low cost and work so well I am OK with a few defective lights.
I highly recommend ordering a hole saw that is the exact size you need so they fit snug in the drywall. I ordered a really nice hole saw and a dust bowl also on Amazon. They both work really well to create the exact size holes I needed so the lights fit very snug and look good on the ceiling.
I have not tested the lights with a dimmer yet but as with any LED light you have to get a compatible dimmer switch or you will see issues.

These lights were very easily installed and allowed for great flexibility in placement for my basement drop ceiling. Traditional cans were obstructed by HVAC returns and joists, but these slid effortlessly into the center of tiles as desired.
Great price for the 12 lights and the adjustable color is awesome. 4000k bright white led bulbs tend to be more expensive than soft white or daylight, so that feature is definitely a huge bonus. The only real caveat is the lack of securement device on each light box, so be prepared to buy those separately for safety and code compliance.

As part of remodeling our kitchen, we decided to address some less than stellar lighting in our hallway and entryway. Both of those were lit with sconce lights that, despite installing the brightest candelabra based LED I could find, they always felt like a cave. The other challenge in our situation is that the ceiling was dropped in those areas for the HVAC duct work, and I did not have a lot of room between the ceiling and the bottom of the duct. These lights are so thin that it wasn’t a problem. Installation of the actual lights was a breeze. As others have said, be sure to get some 1/2” non-metallic push in connectors to protect the wire from the sharp edge of the knockout holes on the junction boxes. The clips hold the lights firmly in place, and they look great. I had to drill extra access holes in my ceiling to reroute the wiring from the sconce lights on the walls into the ceiling and around the duct work, but it was totally worth the effort!
I spaced the lights about 6 feet apart in our hallway and a little closer in the entryway, and before I installed the dimmer switches the area looked like a hospital operating room – it was SOOOO bright! WOW, what a difference. Even though the seller recommends not using a smart dimmer, I used the Kasa brand smart 3-way dimmer sold here on Amazon, and they work perfectly via the SmartLife app as well as the integration with Alexa for easy voice control.
I am now planning to replace all the traditional canned lights throughout my house with these, as well as putting them outside when we put in an outdoor living room.

***Update***
Within hours of writing my review I was contacted by the company to address the problem. I’m satisfied with the resolution and do feel that the seller stands behind their product. I would order from them again in the future.
***Original Review***
I’ve installed around 10 of these lights over the past year.
Recently, one started blinking, and then stopped working altogether.
Thinking it was the light, I tried to switch it out with one I hadn’t installed yet, but that didn’t work and so I figured it had to be the junction box.
After switching out the junction box (with one from the same set that I hadn’t yet installed), the light worked fine.
I opened the nonfunctioning junction box to see what had been going on, and it appears there’d been a short and that it had burned the board.
I don’t know whether this could have caused a fire – perhaps the company uses fire resistant materials and this actually worked as intended. I probably won’t uninstall any of the others that I’ve already installed unless this happens again – but I don’t know that I’d install any more in new locations.
So in sum – the seem well constructed, are easy to install, and look great, but there’s a potential risk for a short on the board.
