Phenomenal little doorbell with tons of features. This small but mighty doorbell is built tough and has stunning picture quality with instant load times. Chime and doorbell don’t require frequent recharging & work seamlessly with the intuitive app. It does everything the expensive & popular doorbells do but without the annoying ‘Ring’ jingle or additional monthly fees. You can power it with your current door wiring or purchase a $20 transformer “c wire” if you don’t have preexisting wiring.

Best camera for your house, being a doorbell camera, you get a front view of the person seeing their face and full frontal view. Also you can store all the data on an SD card in the doorbell camera itself no cloud storage services required, which saves you money. But theydo offer it, at a charge. Camera gives you two way voice and it will call you if it detects motion, it also has tags so I only have it detecting people only no cars no dogs no packages so I don’t get any false notifications. My Wi-Fi is Mash Network so I put a node close to the front door inside my house so it has a great fast connection to the doorbell camera. That helps when you want to retrieve some video of motion that happened or in my case a person coming to the house. I also suggest selecting the tags for people detection only. As the camera is always on pointing out to the street and cars go by all the time you don’t need to get notifications every time a car goes by or other things such as somebody writing a bicycle or anything else like that. When you watch the video as well it’s high quality image you can always zoom into the video to see higher amounts of detail and closer up even though it’s a fixed camera, he gives you the illusion like it was a camera moving, I would even buy this and use it inside my house or for my backyard, they do have a battery version as well of this doorbell camera. Also it does come with a chime for indoors as you wire it to your existing doorbell your existing doorbell will not work anymore as it’s supplying power for this video doorbell camera and they give you a chime unit you can plug it into any receptacle in your house so somebody comes and pushes the doorbell on this video camera it’ll ring the chime regardless of where it’s located it just needs to be plugged into AC power on the wall. I highly recommend this product it’s great quality, high quality video and free customer support is great 24/7 you just call tp-link. At the phone number they give you in the instructions in the Box. Also I want to mention that tp-link owns Tapo but all of their packaging is all paper-based I provided a picture of this the outer box and the inner box that holds all the components it’s a brown paper based and recyclable. I think that’s very environmentally responsible that’s also why I would buy more of their products no plastic whatsoever.

I installed this at our house, then another one at my mom’s house. This is a simple door bell. If you purchase and install a microSD card, you don’t need a subscription in order to use the camera function and record videos and images. It doesn’t require any batteries! The app is easy to use and it has many settings for customization. My wife likes the different doorbell ring tones. It really only took a few minutes to set up.
Things to know:
-You need to have a 24 volt doorbell transformer. If you don’t, you will need to buy one. We already had one, but my mom’s transformer was 12 volts, so I had to replace it (about $17 on Amazon).
-Even though it is for wired doorbells, our existing doorbell chimes do not work with this doorbell. I don’t know why. This happened with both houses. This was not a big deal for us because t comes with its own chime that can be plugged into any outlet, which works very well. You can also set it up to ring on your cell phone (it can ring like a doorbell or like a phone call, which you can answer and speak to the person at the door).
-Once you have installed the mounting plate, the latch that snaps the doorbell to the plat is a little finicky. If the mounting screws aren’t perfectly flush or if the plat is a little warped, it won’t snap in. You may have to play with it. This is a design flaw that could be improved. The good news is that once you do get it mounted, you really should never have to remove it again. There are no batteries to be replaced.

Worth every penny. Had google door bell.which was excellent but this has more features which are free. Main thing is save footage on local sd card.

After charging the battery for several hours, I configured the doorbell and the chime/network adapter and installed it. The pictures is really clear and detailed during the day, but have not viewed the nighttime video. This system does not require a subscription for what features I wanted but it’s really reasonable at $35. Since this video doorbell worked so well, I ordered two solar outdoor cameras. This replaces wyze unit that I was dissatisfied with. Before the Tapo system I tried the ring system but could not get the app and cameras working correctly.

The Tapo Smart Video Doorbell is super cool for my house! Setting it up was really fast and easy, and it connects to the internet without any problems. The video looks clear, even when it’s dark outside, and the motion detector does a great job without bothering me too much.
I really like the smart stuff, like being able to talk to people and get notifications on my phone, so I can see and chat with visitors from anywhere! The battery lasts a long time, and it feels strong and sturdy. If you want a good smart doorbell that doesn’t cost a lot, this one is awesome! I totally recommend it!

Keeping it short-
Cons:
1. Wifi connection stability is never enough. Even if you put your router close to it, the app will tell you to lower the video resolution to a lower one.
2. Live view is a pain. The app will fail you 50% of the times.
3. Getting the video call on your phone when someone presses the bell is a hit or miss. Even when you do everything according to the instructions, your phone might not ring when someone presses the bell.
Pros:
1. Video quality is very good.
2. Records 24×7 on micro SD card.
3. App’s UI & UX is simple and works well.
Hope they’ll fix the issues and make it better.

This doorbell camera is amazing. It has an incredibly large field of view and the video quality is excellent (better than my previous Ring Doorbell). The best part, there’s no need for a subscription (although this is optional of you’d like cloud storage). It allows for 24/7 continuous recording if you insert your own micro SD card in the back, or you can schedules times when it will record continuously and set other times where it only records during motion.
It also has the ability to use colour night vision or infrared black and white night vision. The other great thing is that you can make the led turn on bright white when someone triggers motion (almost like a mini flood light). This can act as a deterrent for porch pirates as they will see the led light up and it may bring their attention to the camera.
You also have the option to set the doorbell to call you via the app when someone presses the button or set it to a banner notification instead. And the included chime is very loud for such a small device and has different ring tones and volume control. It works very well , and is actually louder than my home’s original doorbell.
If you’re looking for a great camera with a field of view that literally shows you the floor mat (yes it’s that’s wide!) and will not break the bank, this is it!
