This has done exactly what I had hoped it would do — provide high speed external storage for my laptop which can’t be expanded beyond the SSD capacity it already has.
I’m a musician with some very large sound libraries which I have moved to this SanDisk 4TB external drive. When working with sound libraries there is a huge data flow that has to be extremely fast and this drive does the job excellently!
I have some different brand external SSDs of smaller capacity which for some reason my Windows11 laptop loses contact with (even though they’re plugged in and stationary) and they’re constantly re-connecting which makes them unusable for musical work. But not this unit — it remains solidly connected to my laptop which makes it excellent for my needs. Video transfers are extremely fast as is any audio transfer (mp3 or wav files).
It’s an extremely valuable add-on for me and will be a welcome addition to anybody working with music and I suspect also working with video, although since I don’t work with video I can’t speak from experience. But the extremely fast data transfer makes me think it will be great for video, too.
I do have videos stored on this external drive and watching the video is no problem, no delays, no interruptions.

I have this great computer but have almost used 2 tb used up and wondered what it was going to take to upgrade. But then I thought if I could get a big SSD external drive and found this one for a decent price, cheaper than having to replace my $4000.oo computer. So I figured the worse could be is the drive wasn’t very fast, but I just attached the cable to the drive plugged it in, added a master folder and moved 1/2 TB in 16 minutes. I thought wow that would have taken me hours before with a regular hard drive and old USB 2.0. Made my computer feel better and me too. I moved mostly videos and pictures onto the new SSD and found I can almost get them up and running as fast as my internal SSD. Long videos took a few seconds longer. But I love this little SSD. If you need space this is the one to get, for that need. It is easy to move and small to carry so it could be a whole operating system, all by it’s self.

All I’m gonna say is small portable, no moving parts to wear out, super fast transfer rate, just don’t loose it….but wait you can enable the pass code so no one can see what’s on your drive…..Great product, I’m gonna buy 2 TB to put all my PS5 games on.

I bought this to replace an older Crucial 2TB SSD. The specs seemed perfect. However, it just does not play well with my Sony 65″ A80J. I have 100gb of movies on it and it just keeps freezing/locking up. It will work a bit and then freeze again. The Crucial, with the same movies on it, works perfectly.
However, it works perfectly on my Sony 55″ A90K. No idea why it works well with one but not the other.
So, five stars, as it clearly is an issue with the TV, not the drive.

Love how fast it uploads media. However, the usb-c cord is so flimsy and the tip got bent a few weeks after getting it. Now it disconnects from my laptop frequently when slightly touched or moved. I was pretty disappointed with that so I gave a 4 star instead of an otherwise 5 star product like this harddrive

Bought one of these because my 256GB Mac ran out of space quickly. Easy install, pleasure to use super small. wish they built a custom sleeve to stick on to the Mac. But all that said – very nice product

I’ve been using the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (2TB) for a few days now, and it’s impressive! The transfer speeds are as advertised, with up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write, making it perfect for quickly backing up large files or editing directly from the drive. The compact and durable design is a huge plus—it’s water-resistant and fits easily into my pocket, making it ideal for travel or on-the-go use.
One minor downside is that the included USB cable could be longer, but that’s easy to fix with an extender. Overall, this SSD has exceeded my expectations and is well worth the investment for anyone looking for portable, high-speed storage!
