Very easy to install – it took less than 5 minutes. The red light is easy to see, and the chimes get your attention.
On that note…I failed to read the instructions properly and thought the dial on the back was the device on/off switch which also controlled the volume. As such, I had the dial set to the lowest setting, but the chimes were still pretty loud in my quiet home office. During a client conference call, the mail came earlier than expected and the chimes did their thing. The people on the call thought their own fire alarms were going off. Nope – it was me. I dashed over to turn off the device and finally realized the dial on the back is a VOLUME control, not an on/off switch.
So, yes, the device can operate in silent mode!
The product makes my mailbox much more secure since it tells me if the mailbox door has been opened, and it has cut down on all those unnecessary trips to the box to see if the mail has arrived. It is well-made, and is highly recommended.

I’ve gone from guessing if I have mail to *knowing* if I have mail.
I can hear when the mail carrier is in the area, but before this little gem I never knew ahead of time if I got anything. Now I don’t bother with randomly going out to check … I just wait and listen for a beep. No beep … go on with my day. 👍🏼 This is such a handy device that mailbox manufacturers should include one with every new box they sell. (I recently replaced my mailbox too!)
I’m now considering giving some as gifts.
A special shout-out to reviewer Poppy-HG, whose video and photos were particularly convincing in deciding to make my Amazon purchase.

The chime works great and is probably 4-5 years old now. Saves a lot of walks to the mailbox not knowing if the mail has been delivered.

I bought this because for the last couple of years the timing of our mail delivery varied any where from around 3PM to 9PM requiring multiple trips to the mailbox in any type of weather and daylight conditions. After researching many products at different prices, I chose mail chime because of the reviews and the ease of installation. The only negative I saw was the method for replacing the 12-volt battery which requires the removal of 4 screws with a precision screwdriver while the transmitter was affixed to the mailbox door. I was concerned that I would lose the screws if they fell to the ground. I called the customer service number in Rock Island, IL, and spoke to a nice gentleman who suggested that I use industrial strength Velcro to fasten the transmitter to the door. I went to the local ACE hardware store and purchased 15-pound hold Velcro. So far, the transmitter has not come loose and I can remove it when battery replacement becomes necessary. The device works very well. The transmitter and receiver are over 100 feet apart and there is one external wall and two internal walls between them. I particularly like the volume control which I have set so that it can still be heard and not drive my dog crazy. I have recommended this product to my neighbors.

I am so in love with my mail chime. I am very impress with how well it works. It truly do let you know when your mail has arrived. It also lets you know if someone has open your mail box, along with if some one is trying to steel your mail. It is very simple to install, Just add battery to sensor, and mount it to your mail box. Now plug in your receiver into a electric outlet. On the back is a round dial to turn it on, and to adjust the volume. First time it beeped it scared me, I had forgot that it was there. Now I look forward to hearing it beep 4 times. There are times when I forget it had beeped, but the red light that stay on reminds me that mail had came. Just remember to reset mail chime when you get your mail.
It is also very nice that if you do not want to hear the beeps just turn it down and the red light will still remind you mail has came. If your sensor seem to have problems ringing when your mail has arrived. Go out to your mail box and change the battery (A23) in side of the sensor.
When changing the battery in the sensor you will need to take out the 4 screws to see the battery inside.
Be very carful the screws are very small.
This product has been so awesome for me, and I hope it will be the same for you.
The company is so amazing and so humble, and they are always there to help and support you.
