Only had this for a couple of days, and one mail delivery so far.
My mailbox is almost 200 feet from my home and down over a hill at the Bottom of my driveway.
Installation is very easy and can be done in just a few minutes. You must pay attention to the directions .
Chime is in my Den.Between the Den and the Chime is another room inside and outside there are Two vehicles that are parked and
obstruct the signal path and yet the chime still works perfectly, even on an interior room of the house and that far away.
Very pleased with this product so far.I hope the durability is long and battery life even longer . Real test will be in the winter at
freezing temperatures and snow and ice. But so far so good.Chime is loud and can be heard anywhere in the home.Volume control is wonderful.

Light stays lit until chime is reset. A Must for older folks like me, that long walk especially in the winter takes its toll.I am glad I
( UPDATE:Purchased this product back in June of 2011…..and it is still working it is now April-2016 )
came here to see if i could get another..i see it is now available.

June 2011, I no longer have to make so many trips , Now I know when the mail runs , which around here is Never the same time two days in a row, or
any day for that matter. Some winter days its well after dark before it runs. This Chime is wonderful Idea .
Again Great Product and I recommend it Highly
Update to review. It is winter time in Dec.29th after Christmas . This product is still working, But have a had a few issues .At times it does not work. One problem is the mail carrier does not drop the door down enough to set it off and I also have come to notice when the weather changes (which it has been doing a lot around here lately) it also does not always go off. Example would be when it goes from very warm to very cold overnight, sometimes it does not go off even when I open the door all the way.I have to remember to “reset” the thing and the easiest way is to unplug and re-plug it back in (the actual Chime in your home)…and then it makes it work better. I also noticed because I have purchased a newer TV in that room it seems to go off less.So I moved it away from that room into another one next to it and it has worked fine so far.So could be electronics stole its signal ? I do not know for sure. But we have not had a Harsh winter yet and I hope it will work if the deep snow falls ( I pray it never happens) but around here its expected at some point . BUT the last few days it has worked great , and weather was warm then cold and light snow…So maybe the move to another room will make it work Every Time like it did during the summer .I sure hope so..but still a great product even with a few bugs and things that need ironed out . Highly recommend it still.

    Good idea, expensive faulty device.
We got one of these and it worked. For a while.
Luckily it was under warranty and we got a replacement.
It also worked. For a while.
I’ve looked at the workings of this and it seems it might be the connections on the very thin wiring. The part that goes on the mailbox has a piece inside (that one cannot see) which moves back and forth, is what, I believe, triggers the alarm when it comes in contact with the wires. I’m guessing at this, as I cannot actual see the piece but I can HEAR it moving back and forth, so I’m assuming that is what is triggering the device.
No matter how I tilt the part that fits in the mailbox, I no longer get an alarm.
Save your money and check the mailbox manually!
Too good to be true, turns out to live up to it’s name.

Our mailbox is at the end of our long driveway of at least 300 feet. The mailbox alarm works perfect and saves us trips downhill to the mailbox and back up the hill. Awesome alarm

I bought 2 of them. Both arrived within 7 days of order and work fine as described. There is no difficulty in getting them to send signal through a distance of 15 meters and a house. They are set to pick up different frequencies and do not mix up. The only drawback is the special type of battery AR23 which is more expensive and not as common as AA or AAA types. Replacement of the battery can be a little bit difficult, unscrewing four small screws to open up the battery chamber.

As I lie in bed one night, I was thinking of a way my elderly parents could be alerted when the mail arrives because they have such a long way to walk to see if there has been any mail delivered. I was going to try to invent a device that would help with this. I was hoping such a device hadn’t already existed so I would be the first to think of it, but I kind of knew that when I got online, someone would have most likely already thought of a solution to this problem. Well, I was correct in thinking so. When I got online to check out the situation, I saw that there were quite a few devices already out there to help with this problem. Some were very cheap and seemed almost as if a caveman had developed them. Others seemed very good, but a bit over-priced. That’s when I came across the ‘Mail Chime – Wireless Mail Alert System’ by Hanna Products Inc. I read the reviews and thought I’d give it a try. The package arrived at my front door only two days after ordering it from Home Controls. It was packaged very well and everything was in order. I immediately opened it and noticed that the 12 volt battery that came with the unit was like none other I had seen before. Normally, a 12 volt battery is rectangular in shape, however, this 12 volt battery is shaped like a regular AAA battery only a bit shorter and wider in girth. (I guess that’s how it lasts for up to two years. Must be better than a normal 12 volt battery?) I read in this product’s reviews that some people complained about removing the four little screws on the unit in order to insert the battery. Are you serious? It took no time at all to remove the four screws, insert the battery and put the screws back in. A small Phillips head screw driver is all you’ll need. It doesn’t even have to be a super small screwdriver. Just your normal small Phillips head will do the trick. (In my opinion, the four screws will help keep the unit tightly sealed in all types of weather conditions.) As far as functionality is concerned, this thing works like a charm! The problem of guessing whether or not the mail person has delivered the mail yet or not is immediately over! Every residence should automatically come with a device like this. It sure does save people who have that long walk to the mailbox from walking all the way out there for nothing. Just peel-off the tape on the back of the sensor and stick it on your mailbox lid as described in the directions. (Be sure to clean the surface that you are applying it to first as to assure best adhesiveness.) The other thing I really like about this device is that you can turn the chime volume up or down or even completely off and just use the light indicator as your reminder of delivered mail. This this is one of the best investments I have ever made and I can’t imagine anyone not being very happy with it. I’m not sure of those who have many obstructions between their mailbox and their home, but my mailbox is obstructed by many trees from the street to my home and it’s over 375 feet away. The add for this product states that it’s signal is good up to 450 feet. Before I installed the sensor in my mail box, I tested it with someone standing in the doorway of my home and giving me a hand signal when I moved it in a back-and-fourth motion insuring me that the signal was being received and that the device was working properly. I would recommend this product to anyone who is tired of taking that long walk out to their mailbox, especially on bitter cold days and brutally hot days. This device truly can be a life-saver for anyone, but the elderly members of your family and friends will shower you with thanks if you should get them one of these as a gift. I am thoroughly impressed with it and I’m telling everyone about it!

Okay, so I love gadgets and have lived in a rural area all my life with mail boxes. I have had faithful mail deliverers that would raise the flag when they delivered, but this location I am in, they don’t do it, seems it isn’t in their job description! Anyway, I installed it 3 days ago and am delighted to hear the 3 beeps every time the mail person delivered mail to my box. Nice about this is that when I am not home and don’t hear the beeps, the light comes on and stays on till I reset it. It is well made, obviously from China, and slightly higher priced than it could be. Great gadget, simple and works well. Will update if there are problems in the future.
