I had it now for 6 months and it’s working great. Super easy to install (did it myself) sound and pairing is good. Volume is okay when paired but wish it could be a bit louder. All in all great product for its price.

Worked ok for 6 months but now power cuts in and out, audio randomly drops out. Appears to be due to harness connector on back of unit. Maybe dry or bad solder to board…

Picked up a 2002 chevy avalanche in really good shape but the stereo had no interface for my phone. This unit solves this problem very economically. Definitely helpful to get the recommended wiring harness and single din mounting bracket. Great Bluetooth functionality. Once paired, connects automatically when I start the truck. USB allows for my phone to be conveniently charged while using. Output is definitely good enough for the stock amp and speakers to create decent sound. Had challenges because the stock amp in the truck has a separate wiring harness that provides power to the speakers but has no obvious way to connect to the unit. Not the fault of the head unit. Found a YouTube video to solve this. Needed to splice one wire from the amp wiring harness to a spare wire from the recommended aftermarket harness because the path to the speakers goes through the hidden stock amp.

I bought this for my beater car (2001 Corolla) to replace the OEM cassette tape radio, as it was the cheapest on Amazon with good reviews. To make my life easier I bought Metra’s Toyota 70-1761 Harness so I didn’t have to cut or splice any of the vehicle’s cabling. It was easy to wire but I had to sand down the plastic around the single DIM slot because the radio wouldn’t fit without doing so. I didn’t anticipate how shallow the unit was (little less than 2 inches deep) so I couldn’t mount it like a normal radio. I had to slide it in, so if you plan to use the casing or screws on your OEM head unit, you might have to improvise like I did.

The Bluetooth works fine. Sound quality is decent (can’t be mad for $30). Hands-free calling works great. I was surprised how well the mic worked, although I had to turn down the A/C for it to hear me well. The build quality is definitely cheap. I feel like I can break off the knob without much force. When charging my phone with the USB port while also listening to radio, I’ll start to hear a bit of radio interference for around 15 seconds before it goes away. Not sure if this is from the USB port charging a device or just the lack of proper shielding in the unit itself.

Overall I recommend this for anyone with a work vehicle/beater car or something similar that just needs to replace the OEM head unit.

I purchased this little Jensen to replace the factory head unit in a friends 2006 Hyundai Tuscon. Made up a quick harness/adaptor before install day and after removing the old unit it literally took a couple of minutes and the job was complete! Fits perfectly, works perfectly and sounds incredible… however you need to be careful when testing as it’s far more powerful than the factory head unit and I accidentally blew the front drivers side speaker in the process, whoops 🙂 All good though as even a couple of inexpensive replacements will round the whole upgrade off nicely.

I bought this to replace the deck in my camping trailer. I had to make a cover for the huge hole in the cabinet that the original deck had, but other than that installation was straightforward as far as decks go. I wasn’t looking for great sound, it’s just for some music while camping, but it’s clear and not tinny. It has USB, which is what we wanted, much more useful than CDs now a days. The operation is simple, didn’t need to look at the manual. Never used or needed the Bluetooth, I guess I could make and take calls hands free while in my trailer. There is an app you can download to control the deck, my Android phone works perfectly with it. No setup required, just open the app and do what you want. You can control everything with the app, even turn it off or on from outside the trailer. I consider this and excellent value for my needs.

At this price, I’m not going to whine. Much.

This head unit is not for an audiophile. Start there. If you’re super-picky about your sound, pick another unit.

But, if you like decent sound, it works.

    MINUSES:

–The mp3 playback reads the folders on your thumbdrive in what appears to be no discernable order. I think it might read them in the order they were written onto the drive, and not in alphabetical order. Only way I can figure that “The Doors” folder will come before “70’s Heavy Hits.”

–Because you have to forward through folders as they play, rather than going through folders then clicking on them to start playing music, it takes a while to get through a large selection. That 128gig thumbdrive I bought to put TONS of music on? Useless. I have to stick to smaller ones with tighter music style selections. Yup, could used a holder for the thumb drives, to replace the holder for cd’s. Sigh.

–Buttons are small and not intuitive. Keep that instruction manual handy. You’ll need it.

–The bluetooth connection cuts off a lot of the first syllables or even words in sentences from the audiobooks I play through my phone.

    PLUSES:

    –That price.

–Easy installation when you buy the harnesses.

–Decent sound from such a tiny piece of tech.

–Fully digital. Love having bluetooth capability and usb access, along with AM/FM.

The price is extremely attractive, and still this unit is remarkably well-designed. Clarity and volume are excellent even in a Gen2 (1999) Dodge Ram with ancient factory speakers. Bluetooth syncs immediately and automatically without fuss, and works perfectly so far. I keep a USB flash drive in the front USB port in case I want to play some good albums without touching my phone. Unlike other USB players I’ve used, this unit allows moving from file folder to folder with dedicated buttons, allows seeking through the position of a track, and displays the folder name and file name on the front display- all extremely nice features when you have hundreds of songs on a single drive. There is a mute button and the play/pause button works in both USB and bluetooth modes. There are no complex menus- front face buttons let you do practically everything including changing input modes with one touch, except adjusting sound levels and a few minor settings in a simple and effective menu. The knob has good steps in volume between notches- not too high that you can’t get a good level, and not so low that you have to turn the knob a lot. FM and AM reception are excellent even with an aftermarket stubby whip antenna. The blue display is nonadjustable in color and brightness but I’m very happy with both as standard. Installation was done with soldering and shrink wrapping to an aftermarket harness- that was my choice; you can install different ways but the simple user manual told me everything about the wiring I needed to know. I would be extremely happy with this unit at twice the price or more, but as is, it has a rare mix of features, usability, good design, performance, and price. Unless you insist on some details like adjustable illumination color, prize high audio power without separate amplification, or are very picky with sound performance, you can’t go wrong with this unit. Compared to using an FM transmitter (which is so close in price you may as well pony up for a head unit like this), you will likely consider this a substantial improvement over your factory radio.

Some details from the box: power is 14W RMS/50W peak x 4 channels @ 4 ohms. Front USB port charges at 1A. There is a front 3.5mm headphone jack input and a stereo RCA preamp output on the back. Box says it plays MP3s (that is the only file format I tried) so I would guess if it also supported FLAC, AAC, etc it would say so. Happy hunting.
