The problems with the device: When the SD card gets full, it doesn’t overwrite automatically. It instead insists on reformatting the SD card. Mildly annoying, but not a huge problem. The suction cup doesn’t work very well when it gets hot. Central California gets hot from late spring through early fall. So right now the suction cup comes loose every few days. Not cool. The wire is not easy to install so that the wire isn’t dangling. I never got that figured out. So the wire dangles.
The good? This thing does a great job when it isn’t having suction cup problems. Fortunately, the “reformatting” issue is set to always only happen when first starting up, so it isn’t like I have to fiddle with it while driving. Likewise, the suction cup issues tend to only happen when I am first getting into a hot car. Once I have the car running, the windows down and/or the AC on, the suction cup isn’t a problem, so again, it doesn’t interfere with driving.
I really like having this. I know this review is talking about the problems. But this device being there gives me peace of mind that with the horrible drivers in my region that if they cause an accident I will have proof. I have reviewed video from it a couple of times and it DOES work. And the peace of mind makes this way worth the cost. Highly recommend everyone have one of this type of product. Whether THIS device or another one? That is up to each person.
UPDATE: The seller has contacted me and is proactive about resolving problems. I am still leaving the problems listed above because purchasers should know what they are getting into, but again, not just because of seller responsiveness, this device gives peace of mind that if one of the local horrible drivers causes a collision, I know this device will clear me of wrongdoing. I would make the same purchase again, even knowing the issues I mentioned above.

It was really functional and cost effective. Video quality was really good and the suction cup was very useful. The cable length was ok as it was easy and feasible for me

Been using this for 3 months travelling within BC and sometimes between Calgary and BC. When i review the videos each week, there are maybe 2 or 3 with error messages that will not open ( hopefully, this won’t happen if an accident happens and it can be captured on video). Image quality is really good. I’ve used a 128GB micro-SD and the trick is to format it to FAT32, not the default format for this SD card. Otherwise, you’ll get an error message when inserting into the camera.
by Great bag. Lots of compartments for stuff. I love it
This is a good camera that comes with a 32GB card so the price is good too. The problem I’ve had with these dash cams on my other cars is the 12v outlet stays on when the car is off so you have to pull out the 12v plug to turn it off. I did find a 12V plug that had an on/off switch on Amazon so that helped. Fortunately on my wife’s car the 12V goes off when the car is turned off so no need to add a switched plug. The other challenge is to fish the camera cable behind the dash and up the side to where I mount it in left hand corner of the dash. I did this with the help of a straightened out coat hanger and the plastic tool tool that comes with the camera to press the cable between the dash panels and also under the rubber door seal. So all good.

The Miden 2.5K Dash Cam is an excellent choice for anyone seeking an easy-to-use, reliable dash camera. Installation was a breeze, thanks to the included handy tool for tucking away the power cord neatly—a thoughtful addition that keeps your car’s interior clutter-free. I’ve been using it for about a month, and the performance has been outstanding. The 2.5K resolution delivers crisp, clear footage, capturing important details like license plates and road signs even in various lighting conditions.
One of the standout benefits is the peace of mind it offers while driving. Whether it’s for daily commutes or long road trips, knowing that every moment is recorded provides added security. The dash cam’s intuitive interface and hassle-free operation make it perfect for both tech-savvy users and beginners. Overall, the Miden 2.5K Dash Cam is a worthwhile investment for safety and convenience on the road.

Everything you need is contained in the box, easy to set up, quality of the video is great, motion detection has 3 setting, picture at night is clear even with lights off. All in all for £27 you can really go wrong.

First one I ever owned and it works perfectly. Not hard to figure out how to adjust settings. Comes with micro SD – the camera will format it for you. I recommend you turn off microphone or it will record your in car conversations. Play back was crystal clear. Files marked with date and time. Auto overwrite so memory card never full. Not sure what more expensive cameras do but this one works great day and night.

Disclaimer: Product descriptions typically provide information about what products claim to do, so I like to focus my reviews more on the negative aspects of products to make other people aware of issues or concerns before purchasing. My reviews are based on specific tests that I conduct, so others may not experience the same results or share the same opinion.
Overview:
I typically rent a car when I travel, but I never once thought I should use a dashcam like I do with my own car, just in case, so I decided to find one that I could easily pack and take with me when I rent a car during trips.
Negative(s):
-No touch screen
-No interior or rear cameras
-Features
-Memory card
-Cigarette lighter plug
Do any of the negative(s) affect my overall rating and/or recommendation?
No. While I listed a few negatives, none actually negatively affect my review of this dashcam. Not having a touch screen isn’t a big deal, as the controls are easily accessible as buttons on the sides of the dashcam. Once you know what they do, it’s pretty simple to operate the dashcam and navigate thru the menu. Not having additional cameras doesn’t affect my review because it’s not listed as having any. Just want people to be aware of that. Features are limited, but that’s expected for something that’s under $40. The memory card is a generic brand, but the fact that it comes with one is actually a plus. And the cigarette lighter adapter is a USB-A and not that strong, but enough to power the dashcam. Actually, if your car has a USB-A port, you can plug the power cable directly to it, which is another plus.
Overall, this is compact enough to take with me when I go on trips, and the video quality is really good, and I would highly recommend this product.

Even though it’s 1080P, there’s no way it’ll pass for that. It’s SUPER grainy and you’d never make our license plate numbers. But for the cheap price it would be enough to prove out insurance claims. That’s why I bought it, just for things like who pulled out of where and was the light green, etc. If you’re gonna upload to youtube or actually film anything it’s barely 480P, the quality is NOT good. But it does work, it records well, and it’s easy to install. So like a 1/10 for video quality, and so far a 10/10 for ‘does it work’.
