I’ve owned Garmin watches for years… I can’t even remember how many. My previous watch was still working perfectly have many years of use, but I thought I’d try a new one to see if the tech had gotten better. This watch has way too many features for me, but it’s easy to just ignore the stuff I don’t use.
The most important thing to me is the accuracy of the GPS, and this one is excellent. That alone was worth the money to upgrade. The display is also super nice. I do like data, so all the new data that this displays on Garmin Connect is kind of fun, but mostly unnecessary for me. The UI is also a bit bloated for me, but is well thought out and easy enough to get used to. Overall, I’m just really thrilled with this watch. Oh…and it works seamlessly with the Garmin phone app and Garmin Connect.

This is a great running watch, but it also has many other functions. I appreciate the heart rate monitor, stress monitor, sleep assessment, etc.

I LOVE my new watch. It’s been now 6 months since I have bought this watch.
Very accurate. When running, the pace updates instantly, and GPS is acquired in less than 30 seconds. I love all the sports included in the watch and especially the coloured watch face. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but it is worth every penny for me! You don’t need to be an expert runner. It is great for improving your running, managing your run and energy, and collecting soooo much data on your run… way more than you need.

Previously had a 945 which I liked a great deal. The 965 is a nice upgrade. Excellent watch, display is very nice and battery life is better than the 945. Been using it for over a week since it was charged and have 50% left. Easy to connect to Garmin app. Like the sleep data that automatically comes up every morning.

I have been an Apple watch person for well over 10 years. This watch is awesome at tracking activities, sleep, heart rate and a list of other items. The battery life is awesome, lasting about 2 weeks between charging verses the Apple watch that had to be charged every night. The display is bright and easy to read. I love the ability to change and customize the watch faces.

Bought as a replacement for an abused and overused Forerunner 945 that was showing its age (but not broken, testament to Garmin durability). The Forerunner 965 display and touch screen make this a significant step up and provides far more utility and easy navigation than the prior generation of screens. The functionality and battery life are fantastic and are a real help to me when planning my activities. I like that the watch turns on when you raise it toward your gaze, works well, and that at night the screen is dimmed and simplified. My only longer term question is with the charging connection, this has not evolved from prior generations, and I have found this to be the weak part of the design – sometimes the connections get dirty or the cable breaks and charging can be a pain – wireless charging would be an improvement.

I’ve been a Garmin fan for 5+ years. I wore my previous forerunner 24/7 and loved it. But after that time, I was looking for an upgrade.
I’ve have the Forerunner 965 for about a month now and I’m really happy with it. The battery lasts a good week plus (I kind of loose track at that point). The running features are really top notch, from tracking, stats while running, race planning, etc. The body battery feature is really cool and so far has been pretty spot on for how well I sleep and how much energy I’ll have. The nap feature is also neat, despite my only taking the occasional nap.
The touchscreen is very responsive and a nice upgrade from my previous Garmin. I also like the touchscreen disables during workouts so I don’t accidently mess with settings. The watch feels very durable and a month of constant wear shows no marks or damage at all.
All-in-all, I’m really happy with it and plan to keep wearing it 24/7.
PS – Garmin’s customer service has always been top notch whenever I’ve needed them.

Ordered on October 18, 2023 –
Since then I have had to deal with Garmin’s terrible customer service to have this device replaced. The first time it was because the watch started saying my elevations were 100s of thousands of feet up.
The second time the watch just died while I was using it, not because of dead battery.
They make replacement such a chore and a task
– running through t-shoot steps you’ve already done when you Googled the problem
– sending them video evidence of you going through the t-shoot processes
– you must mail the device back BEFORE they send you a new one which means you are out of tracking options for up to 2 weeks.
This is a $600 device, it should work much better than just randomly dying one day, and support should be less problematic.

Amazing watch for any sports. Battery is amazing ! And Amoled screen is top quality. Highly recommend if you want to switch from AppleWatch to another smart watch.

This watch does absolutely everything, the screen is beautiful, battery life is excellent and with only GPS tracking a few light activities, I was rewarded with 13 days of battery with it around 2% remaining, so quite simply put it has functioned exactly as expected. The watch body seems very light and comfortable – the silicone?? strap has perfect adjustability, and just feels “right”. I was surprised by little things, such as the “strength” activity tracking actually correctly detected when I was doing reps of various exercises, and you can track metrics like weight (and others) to review and inform progress, which you can correct/edit later if an error was made. Neato.
Some minor perturbances if I’m being picky – sometimes the heartrate monitor is sluggish, which is not the best when you’re trying to observe quick changes resulting from effort/output in your activity compared to HR recovery time for example. Also, sometimes when you’re twisting your wrist to have the screen wake, it doesn’t, and you have to repeat once or a couple times more. Doesn’t happen often, and if it bothered me enough and I didn’t mind whatever increased battery burn-rate that equates to, I would enable the screen always on. There’s more little improvements they can make, I can list a few more, but I’m sure they will update and patch a lot of this stuff throughout it’s support lifecycle.
All in all, such a solid product. Synced well with speed/cadence sensors, and other Garmin products like inReach Mini 2. It looks classy and is still pragmatic and functional. Doesn’t look boorish. Buy it, and you won’t regret it! Expensive, but what should something like this cost? It seems fair for what it does and is capable of.
