Ok laptop, however I am very disappointed because it is not touchscreen and it took a while to start up. One main reason for choosing this laptop was because it was advertised as having touchscreen functionality – now I’m stuck without the main feature i desired.

Hello. After so many of my attempts to resolve this simple issue, this Dell response is the poorest customer service. It is clear that the Dell agent who responded to my message did not take the time to read my entire message before responding. Like all customers, I want my concerns to be heard and acknowledged. I clearly stated that returning the laptop was not a business option due to the requirement of retaining my original 2024 financial billing. I also can not accept a grey laptop because my business documentation clearly states a “blue” laptop. To maintain accurate financial billing statement, I must have the Midnight Blue laptop that I ordered. Dell should not have advertised on Amazon and sold me a midnight blue laptop if Dell did not possess such a laptop. From my limited legal perspective, that is false advertising. I really do not want to go down the legal path for such a solvable predicament. Dell is a world wide international company, I can not accept that Dell is not able to find a single midnight blue laptop from somewhere in the world to send it to me. This would clear up everything. Please forward my issue to someone else who has better customer service skills. It has been over 3weeks since I ordered a business laptop that I am now unable to use for my business. I would like this issue escalated. Sincerely, Dr. Bryan Taylor

Sturdy high quality laptop, fast and I am impressed. I can even game on it.

It’s a little hard to open the cover. Would be nice if an owners manual came with it. More than 2 USB ports would be helpful. Very fast with lots of storage.

The documentation is very good on Dell’s website and everything is replaceable. I’ve upgraded to 64GB of RAM. The internal 2230 NVMe drive is actually on an adapter/heat spreader in a 2280 slot, so either is fine for upgrade paths. Said adapter has screws on the sides, so don’t lose those nor will the adapter/spreader likely fit on another machine if you want to use the original 2230 elsewhere in a 2280 slot. I’ve also upgraded my storage so I may repurpose the original for my raspberry pi.
I was doubtful I’d use the SDcard reader, but it does come in handy. The only downside is that the integrated reader seems to be capped at about 30miB/S in either read or write, even if the card can go faster. Tested on both Windows (with driver installed from dell) and Ubuntu. Fast enough for audio and some video, but definitely not large transfers or games. Filling up a 512gb card with a backup of my files took AGES. I got better performance with a USB SDCard reader.
I wish there was a dedicated ethernet port or more USB slots, but removing them seems to be a trend on all laptops this gen except for dedicated gaming laptops. I highly recommend getting a USB-C dock with PD.
USB PD specified to 15W but this seems to be for output power. Charging seems to be the same as the dedicated charger when used as a power input with a dock.
For games the 780m performs well. Expect the newest titles to run on low/min, but my backlog has a lot of games that run well on medium and high. Good performance when using Proton. Some hiccups occurred on some games when switching desktops, but most got better after a few mesa drivers got released.
As for windows: If you re-install, do keep drivers or a USB-ethernet adapter on hand. Windows’ generic wifi driver did not work with the installed card, so grab at least that from Dell’s website beforehand so you can grab the rest. Microsoft update also pulls graphics drivers that are a bit old, so grab that from AMD as well.
Battery lasts a few hours, depending on use-cases or connected USB devices. For the performance, I’d say that is a good trade off, but I keep mine plugged in most of the time unless I am moving between rooms.

My wife I and have been using two HP laptops that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11. So I researched various replacement laptops and felt the Dell Inspiron 5645 Laptop – 16.0 offered the best value for the price. Waited for a sale and bought two. Compared to our old HP laptops the Dell’s are so much faster, and they are working great so far! One thing I especially like is they are designed for ease of upgrades and maintenance, you just have to turn it over remove 8 screws and everything is right there.

This thing is a beast. Great battery life if set up right. Expandable DDR 5 for future proofing. Great connectivity. Screen rocks. Aluminum structure Fast as I am, so real time folder navigation. Thin but durable. Not plastic. The drive speed is ridiculous, and the the usb c is charging and video. Get a m.2 storage device and move data at 300 MB/s. Name and usb C portable case for safe data storage. 300 MB/s as well. Just a great machine. Only downside is 1080p only out of the hdmi, but no big deal, use the usb c for 4k. You will like this laptop. Get the AMD series 7 8840u. Plays games from a few years ago like Alan Wake, no problem. This is a serious processor for a mid grade laptop. Better than the u150 Intel. You will not be disappointed.

It is a great choice for students, professionals, and casual users. Its sleek design, solid performance, and decent battery life make it a reliable companion for everyday computing needs.👌

I ordered this laptop with the intention of upgrading the ram as it only had 8M but found out after I received it the RAM can’t be replaced, it is soldered onto the board. The return process has been a nightmare with Amazon. They sent me a second one that i did not want or ask for and now they are telling me they can’t find one of the 2 that i sent back, i have the ups tracking # they paid for and they both got delivered the same day. I will not be buying anymore big ticket items through Amazon.

This had everything I was looking for. 1TB, FHD camera w/cover, fingerprint reader, decent RAM, backlit keyboard, several USB 3.2 ports, Wifi 6E/AX.
However, first thing I did was upgrade to Win 11 Pro. Once all set up, I realized the wireless was flakey and slow getting data…it frequently throttles to under 100 mbps (though I have the 600 plan). Very consistent using the speed test site. My other laptops consistently stay near 590mbps. Even after many resets and troubleshooting, the Realtek Wifi 6E card is deemed unstable in this laptop. Enough time wasted, so I put in a spare Intel AX210 Wifi 6E card (Intel does support AX on AMD)….wow it’s so stable now (btw, my other laptops have this same Intel NIC).
Oh, also upgraded to 32GB (2x16gb) Kingston Fury ddr5/5600. Aside from that, this laptop is awesome and fast.

I’ve now been using my 16″ Dell Inspiron 5645 Laptop for a year and have no complaints. It handles my primary uses for email, document production (Word & Excel), and photo editing. I get about 5 hours of battery life when disconnected from a power source, which is a major improvement over the 2-3 hours I used to get with my 17″ HP laptop, whose battery simply ceased to work within a couple years of usage.
I like the 1 TB of flash-drive storage. Also, the chassis of the PC seems very solid and does not have flimsy hinging of the screen, which also was an issue with my earlier HP. Its only drawback is that, like most computers today, it lacks a CD drive; so, I have to use an external CD drive whenever I need to download something from a CD.
