After using the OSI Smart Alarm System for the past three years, I recently made the switch to the new OSI Smart Alarm System Gen2, and I’m genuinely impressed with the improvements. The large display immediately caught my attention – it’s not only sizeable but also exceptionally clear and vibrant.
The touch display on the Gen2 is a significant upgrade in terms of appearance, speed and responsiveness. It feels like a tech refresh, making interactions with the system smoother and more intuitive. Setting up the system and adding the accessories such as the siren and sensors was very straightforward and easy, thanks to the wizard feature. Connecting to WiFi and the Smart Life app was a hassle-free process, even for less tech-savvy users like myself.
The promise of continuous updates is a standout feature for me. Knowing that the Gen2 will receive ongoing fixes, updates, and new features adds long-term value to my investment. The multi-user functionality is thoughtful, providing personalized access without compromising the admin settings. Additionally, the Gen2 addressed a previous issue I had with patio window contact sensors having issues connecting as the metal frame of the patio was blocking the signal. This new system fixed that issue for me!
Aesthetically, the Gen2 has won me over. It not only performs exceptionally well but also looks sleek and modern. The built-in stand is very convenient and now allows me to place on a shelf near the entrance, and built-in siren contribute to a cleaner overall appearance. This also goes for the wireless strobe siren! the whole unit plugs directly into the electrical outlet…no screwing into the wall! so now i can just move it around by unplugging and just plugging it into another outlet.
The OSI Smart Alarm System Gen2 is a solid upgrade, with lots of new updates and features! The second you turn it on, you will get a good sense of the quality of the system! If you’re considering buying this as your first alarm system, replacing or upgrading from the OSI Smart Alarm System Gen 1, the Gen 2 Model is 100% worth the investment for a reliable and modern home security solution.

OSI Smart Home Alarm System (Gen 2)-11 Piece, This has exceeded my expectations, it works perfectly for my needs, I’m only using the motion sensor’s for now to monitor my downstairs area. It picks up any movement with no false alarms, very cool. I did have to adjust the sensors so the dog doesn’t set it off. Love the fact that I can arm and disarm with the remotes, the phone app or the control panel. The control panel looks like a high end system and is well designed. Lots of settings to customize to your needs. I ordered two more motion sensors for even better coverage. The only issue I’ve had so far is the power cord was too short. Fyi: It is a usb C type. I would really like to be able to use two control panels together.

So far so good. It’s definitely loud enough. lol . Tutorials were easy to follow. Took a while to set up but everything works as described. Sensors all work had an issue with one but it was the door.
We had a couple questions. Customer service was good they got back to us right away.
Would definitely recommend this product.

No monthly monitoring fee and it reminds me of a Vivint system. Two grips, the door and window contacts if that is self stick tape it’s the worse I’ve ever seen, but nothing a $5 roll of foam double stick tape can’t fix. Other is the alarm panel is VERY sensitive to movement and will go off if it thinks it’s tampered with. Put it on a wall that is solid and not subject to doors slamming and such. But this is a fantastic alarm system easy once you don’t overthink it to install and I added camera outside and in that are great additions for our vacation house. It notifies you by text anytime something happens, I think is great and not paying monitor fees!

I bought this system for an elderly parent who was wondering. It is a great syatem for that and more.
Setting up the system is easy and quick. After you plugin the unit, it will walk you through the setup and it’s intuitive and easy to follow. The hardest part (for me) was taking the tiny stickers off of the back fo the door units and figuring out where top place the motion units.
One of my motion units is not currently functioning, but the other does a fair – if not top notch – job of detecting motion. Angles are fairly limited on the vertical, and the horizonal seems to be a bit more limited than listed. However, they still catch a hallway (I was just able to get a little closer than I would like, and ‘sneaking’ along the side had a limited success. Door alarms don’t need to be perfect, they work just find sitting on trim and still engage the magnetic lock. The alarm is loud, and the light is bright. Except the one motion, which i suspect is batteries or some such, all pieces connected quickly and were easily editable on the app.
On Portability
This is such a simple, easy to seutp system you could easily use this as a portable system utilizing screws, zip ties and command strips. It’s small, light and only needs to have a plugin for it to work.
Overall, this system holds good value. Battery life will hopefully hold out but I will report if not. The control panel is easy to use and modules are easy to setup.

First time using a DIY system. After 6 months of research/ hesitating bought it on sale. Worked out well.
Handy built-in chime feature dings when a door opens (can turn off). One annoyance, if you adjust the system volume, it changes the door chime volume and also the built-in alarm siren volume. Would be nice if these were separated, not that big of a deal, but just an FYI. External siren has its own volume level. Sirens could be louder. Best to place external one outside so your neighbours hear it.
The system uses wifi, not 4G. Very easy to install/operate/use. Does NOT send text messages, but rather alerts via the app installed on your phone. If you want texts, there is an option to subscribe. The app alerts are working fine for us. App is missing some features. Can’t get very granular in the settings, but I think its similar across most DIY systems.
Can be set to self arm/disarm on schedule, e.g. going to sleep and waking up in the morning.
We looked for a few months as I mentioned, and it was kind of intimidating at first, but good choice. After installing it, good piece of mind. The newer 2nd Gen with touch screen (this one), much better than the older one. Overall happy we have it. Does its job.

Highly recommend this after living with it for several months.
Pros:

– Many setup options around sounds and visuals
– Great WIFI range
Cons:
– Not many, the USB plug is pretty bulky as they usually are. That would be my only “complaint”

Easy setup. Easy to use. I wish the power cord was a little longer so I could mount the panel on the wall at eye level. Touch screen is very responsive and easy to read. Unit requires a monthly subscription to monitor from outside your home. I did not opt for any of these. It is easy to add additional sensors. It goes without saying, the main controller/panel will not recognize 3rd party sensors.

The installation was fairly simple. I had some issues connecting to my internet but that was on my end which I resolved. Once connected the easy to follow instructions allowed me to finish install fairly quickly. Using it for 2 months now and everything works as advertised. I recommend watching the Youtube videos before just to be sure on what you are doing.

My biggest challenge was getting it connected to the Smart Life app; I narrowed it down to the 5Ghz band which my phone was connected to (could not force it to 2.4Ghz), so I just kept trying util it got added. Setting up is a breeze from there on out.
I do with that the buttons on the remote controller had a bit of a recess – I find myself inadvertedly arming the thing simply because my palm held on the controller a bit too tightly, every now and then. Besides that gripe, I only have good things to say about this system. Works well with my Google smart home, and I find that the balance between cost and reliabily has been struck here.

For the price I can’t complain. One door sensor was broken, kept alarming although it was set up correctly, replaced it and it worked fine. My 3lb kitten kept triggering the motion sensor, so I will need to find a way to move it to where she cannot trigger it.
